Brenda Sue (Green) Schawe, 65, died on September 6, 2026.

Brenda was born on November 18, 1960 in Wichita, Kansas. Her parents, Jack and Virginia (Abbott) Green, raised Brenda and her sister, Rhonda, in Wichita for the majority of their childhoods.

After graduating from Wichita West High School in 1978 and Kansas State University in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Marketing and a minor in Economics, she moved back to Wichita and married her high school sweetheart, Galen, on October 24, 1981.

Brenda spent the majority of her professional career at Shepler’s, retiring in 2013 as the VP of Catalog and Internet Sales.

Brenda loved supporting her daughter, Taylor, all over the country watching her play softball, as well as traveling the world with her husband and friends. She was also an expert in home décor and sewing, especially quilting. She was a huge fan of all K-State sports and enjoyed being able to give back as an alumna of the University.

Brenda fought a long and hard battle against multiple cancers for more than a decade, fighting hard against even the steepest of odds until the very end.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Virginia Green. She is survived by her husband, Galen Schawe; daughter, Taylor (Jared) Stremel; granddaughters, Virginia Hope and Alexandra Lyn; and sister, Rhonda (Drew) Napier.
