Celebrating the life of Cecil C. Box Jr., a kind, loving, generous, supportive, and loyal individual, who passed away at the age of 78 in Wichita, KS. Born on August 11, 1947, in Batesville, AR, Cecil dedicated his professional life to working as a Leak Survey Foreman and Machine Operator for the Kansas Gas Service.
Cecil married the love of his life, Connie Sue Box, on April 17, 1965. Their remarkable marriage of 61 years began when they were just teenagers, at 16 and 17 years old. Together, they built a life filled with shared passions and a deep commitment to each other, characterized by their mutual support and admiration.
An outdoorsman at heart, Cecil cherished hunting and fishing, exploring the wonders of nature, taking scenic drives, and tracing his ancestry. His easygoing, well-grounded nature made him a pillar of strength for his family, whom he greatly admired and supported unconditionally.
Cecil is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Sue; children, Pam Box Hamner, Carl Morales, Darren Box, and Shelli Box; grandchildren, Brandon, Jennifer, Taylor, Tiffany, Jacob, Tamra, Jessica, and Caleb; and great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jasper, Emmitt, Ava, Journey, Keaton, Noah, Evelyn, Hannah, Willow, and Isla, with Amelia expected to join the family soon. He also leaves behind his brothers and sister, Mike, Linda, and Randy Box; and nieces and nephews, Ken, Jarrod, Jamie, Tyler, Lindsey, Brian, Eric, Madison, along with great-nieces and nephews, Nick, Dillon, Kyson, Ryan, Presley, Michael, Everleigh, Blakeley, Cam, and Emery.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil C., Sr. and Lorene Box; his sister, Daunita Rose; and his nephew, Justin Box.
Cecil’s legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unwavering support for his loved ones will forever be cherished and remembered by those who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt his generous and supportive presence in their lives.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Graveside service to follow at El Paso Cemetery, Derby, Kansas.
