Dana (Bottomley) Minson would not want this obituary to be about her. Instead, she would quickly ask how you were doing or how your kids or parents were or how work was going. Dana had so much love and she gave it freely to everyone she met.
Born January 29, 1962, in Evanston, Illinois, to James and Kathleen Bottomley, she passed from this earth on September 14, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Dana attended Wichita schools, graduating from Northwest High School and then attended the University of Oklahoma, becoming a lifelong, rabid OU fan. She earned her radiologic technology degree and business administration bachelor’s degree from Kansas Newman.
Along each step of her life journey, she made life-long friends, from classmates to roommates to neighbors and co-workers. Her work ethic and high standards along with her sense of humor and empathy made her beloved at every workplace, including more than 20 years at the Kansas Heart Hospital.
Dana’s ability to give of her time and herself is as legendary as her thank-you notes. There were cookies warm from the oven to golfing friends at the 16th tee box at Auburn Hills, soups and dinners for friends in need, time to listen to any story or concern.
Dana is preceded in death by her parents; James and Kathleen Bottomley. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Doug Minson; children, Andrew (Jenny) Minson, Isabelle (Alec) Taylor; and granddaughter, Amelia Minson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Funeral will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. There will be a private family burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Victory in the Valley, 3755 East Douglas Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67218 or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 South Market, Wichita, Kansas 67202.

Doug, so sorry to hear of Dana’s passing. I will always remember our “Earth, Wind & Fire” concert, we had so much fun! My thoughts & prayers for you and family for strength and faith during this time.

Dana was not only my cousin, she was a great friend. She taught me faith through her actions and strength. She taught me the sense of adventure through our travels. She taught me patience through her thoughtful and kind nature. She taught me love through her generosity, kindness, and how her light shone so brightly. She tried to teach me football, but we had to agree to disagree, even though I had a great time visiting her Sooners.

I’ve been thinking of my dearest friend Dana, we’ve been through so much together. Dana was unlike anyone I know, loyal, kind, caring, smart, funny, strong and she had the most beautiful soul. She always reminded me of Reba Mcintire, a little bit of an accent, so cute! She faced cancer like a lineman, but she was tiny. She loved life, and never quit. That’s what she did until she took her last breath. God welcomed her with open arms and brought his child home . I will always have a special place in my heart for my dear friend, and each day I will strive to be more like my friend ❤️
