Donald A. Yakshaw

Donald A. Yakshaw, 92, retired Southwestern Bell Telephone employee, U.S. Army (1953-1955), retired Air National Guard airman (1968-1984), and one of the first three males admitted and graduated from Sacred Heart (All Girls) College 1964, died Friday, September 27, 2024. Rosary will be at 5:30 pm, Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Wichita, KS.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Mervine Yakshaw; sisters, Nancy Hieger, Arrah May, and Lois Audrey Parsons. He is survived by his children, Mary (Craig) Shaft of Augusta, KS, Michelle "Shellie" (Ken) Andra of Overland Park, KS, Ron Yakshaw of Norfolk, VA, Greg (Sharon) Yakshaw of Lenexa, KS, Annie (Bryan Lopez) Yakshaw of San Diego, CA; girlfriend, Annette Flanagan of Wichita, KS; brothers, Rod Yakshaw of Independence, KS, Ed Yakshaw of Independence, KS, Jim Yakshaw of Midland, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with: Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation, 5111 East 21st Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67208. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
Rest Donald, until you hear at dawn, the low, clear reveille of God. Thank you for your service to this nation. U.S. Army, and career Kansas Air National Guard.
It is very difficult to say goodbye to an old friend. I will remember and miss him always but it is a comfort to know he is at peace. My sincere sympathy to his family.
