McColpin, Douglas Clayton, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away Friday, December 2, 2005. Doug retired in 1989 after 40 years of service for The Boeing Aircraft Company where he was Manager over all of Tooling. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Johnson, in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1954. He loved to spend his retirement years traveling the world with Phyllis, including 38 visits to their favorite winter getaway in Acapulco, Mexico, where they had made many friends. The family loved boating, water skiing, and family vacations together. His family was always his highest priority. He will be loved and missed by all. Visitation with the family, 5:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Service, 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, Central Community Church. Preceded in death by brothers, Orville McColpin, Jr., Dwight McColpin, Vaughan McColpin, and James McColpin. Survivors: wife, Phyllis; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Jack Edwards, Becky and Steve Clark, Donna Brown, all of Wichita; sisters, Delma Hazen of Wichita, Jeri Bishop of Augusta; grandchildren, Jared, Jason, and Julie Hobaugh, Lindsey Goward Penney, Erin Goward, Tyler Ash, Connor Blumberg, Shannon and Stephen Clark, Jared Edwards, and Emily Edwards Collins. Memorial established with Hearts and Hands, c/o Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple, Wichita, KS 67209. Visitation with the family, 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Monday, Downing Lahey Mortuary West

  1. Hello, I was sorry to hear doug had passed on. As the Quality Superintendent over tooling I interfaced with Doug constantly. It was a pleasure working with him over the years I spent at Boeing. I wanted to send my condolences, And tell you in personally, but due to health reasons I cannot make it to the service. I want you to know Boeing was a better work place with Doug’s cheery attitude.
