Edith Frances Buehne

Buehne, Edith F., 91, precious mother and grandmother, was called to Heaven on May 7, 2005 in Hurst, Texas. Funeral 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Wichita, Kansas. Burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East. Edith was born March 12, 1914 to John and Mathilda Frangenberg, the middle child of eight girls, in Pocahantas, Arkansas. After nursing school in Jonesboro, her nursing career included office and family practice and specialty care in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1938 she married Frank Buehne, and they settled in northwestern Ford County near Dodge City, Kansas. They had four children, two girls, and two boys. Edith was active in numerous religious and civic organizations: Third Order Secular of St. Francis, Council of Catholic Women, Altar Society, Newman Book Club, Legion of Mary, Daughters of Isabella, and volunteer work for a number of causes, including The Catholic Center for the Aging. She enjoyed bridge, gardening and bowling. She traveled extensively and made numerous religious pilgrimages. Over the span of a single lifetime, Ediths indomitable spirit imbued her family and all who knew her with a legacy of faith in God and love of family. Edith was preceded in death by her son, Hal and her great-grandson, Jon David. Survivors: children: Konnie Williams and husband Larry, Susan Keithley and husband Ty, Greg Buehne and wife Connie; grandchildren, Nicole, Melissa, Robert, Brian, Anne-Marie, Natalie, Mark, Alan, Meara, Kevin, Nona, and 19 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Birthright of Wichita, 339 N. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas, 67203.
Rosary will be at 6:30 P.M., Thursday, Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
