Florence A. Young

Young, Florence A., 96, retired Wichita Public School teacher, died Saturday, September 19, 2009. Memorial service will be 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Florence has been a member of Fairmount United Church of Christ for 75 years and P.E.O. for 76 years; currently in Chapter I. In 1999, she was honored in WSUs Plaza of Heroines. Preceded in death by: husband, Francis Young, son, John Young, granddaughter, Tracy Young Cox, and parents, Sydney Walter and Stella Wright. Survivors: children, Bill (Georgianna) Young, Winfield, KS, David (Nancy) Young, Conway Springs, KS, and Nancy (Larry) Deaton, Independence, MO, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with Fairmount United Church of Christ, 1650 N. Fairmount, Wichita, KS 67208 and P.E.O. Chapter I, 10706 E. Lockmoor St., Wichita, KS 67207.
