Florence Means passed away on October 14, 2026.

Florence Marie Means was born on June 22, 1940, in Parsons, Kansas, to Paul and Mary Smith. She attended Parsons High School and later graduated from nursing school at St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas.

On November 19, 1960, Florence married Dean Means in Pittsburg, Kansas. As their children grew older, the family settled in Cheney, Kansas, where Florence continued her nursing career. She served as Director of Nursing at Cheney Nursing Home and later became the administrator when Catholic Care Center opened. She went on to work as a private consultant for nursing homes, helping long-term care facilities meet standards and provide quality care.

After retirement, Florence and Dean moved to Grove, Oklahoma, where they made their permanent home. Florence found joy in spending time at the lake, tending to her flowers, and feeding the cardinals that visited her yard. She loved bringing her family together and looked forward to hosting them each year for the Fourth of July.

Florence also had a special talent for cross-stitching. Throughout the year, she lovingly created Christmas ornaments for her family, making treasured keepsakes that will be cherished for generations to come.

Florence was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The memories she created and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, and whenever a cardinal appears, her family and friends will be reminded of Florence and the special place she will always hold in their hearts.

Florence was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean, her son-in-law, Larry, and her parents, Paul and Mary Smith.

She is survived by her children, Scott of Pine Mountain Club, California, Dee (Leon) Simon of Andale, Kansas, and Gina Snapp of Andale, Kansas. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a treasured part of her life.

Though Florence will be greatly missed, her memory will forever bring comfort and warmth to all who loved her.
