Gregory B. Pierce, 73, Tax Accountant, died Thursday, April 16, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children.
Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2026. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026. Both will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
Greg was a devoted Catholic whose faith was a steady part of his life. Through his church community he formed strong friendships and played a meaningful part in many people’s lives. He was always willing to help others and never hesitated to share his time and honest advice.
Greg took great pride in his work in taxes and accounting. He never retired. It seemed fitting that after finishing one last tax season he finally decided to stop working, passing the very day after the season ended. Greg believed in working hard so he could enjoy life, especially family vacations to the beach or mountains creating countless stories.
He enjoyed landscaping, golfing, and being outdoors, finding joy in making his spaces more beautiful. He loved playing chess and shared that passion with students, spending 15 years coaching at SEAS. He took pride in helping young people learn and grow.
He loved and supported not only his own children, but also their cousins and friends, always making them feel welcomed, accepted as part of the family, and – most importantly – fed. Greg valued his friendships greatly, many spanning decades and sustaining every aspect of his life. Whether it was sharing weekly Friday night drinks, Vegas golf trips during busy tax seasons, or the popular Sunday night gatherings at the Pierce house for his luscious grilled chicken, he made his home a gathering space for everyone. His warmth and love will be missed by all.
Preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Rhoda Pierce; sister, Adele Pierce; nephew, Phillip Green.
Survived by his wife, Jeannine Pierce; children, Kevin Pierce, Kelly Pierce, Ryan (Meghann) Pierce, Andrew Pierce, Benjamin Pierce, Rachel (Stephen) Havey; grandchildren, Owen and Noah Havey; brothers Tim (Kathy) Pierce, Steve (Annette) Pierce, Kurt (Audrey) Pierce; numerous nieces and nephews.

I remember Greg fondly from our time with the Christian Brothers. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant. Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever.
John Beischel.
I have great memories of Greg from Glencoe and Stritch Hall in the Christian Brothers. He was a great guy and will be missed. Jeanine and family are in my thoughts and prayers
My Prayers and deepest sympathy to all of you.
Greg did my taxes for over 40 years. I always loved to visit with him. I also lived with Greg back in the 70’s along with John Beischel and Pat Powell in Memphis when we were all in the Christian Brothers. I often consider those the best years of life. We all lived with a great bunch of guys. My deepest condolences to Jeannine and your family. May God bless you and watch over you in this difficult time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Greg was a friend and business associate. He took care of my company’s tax filings and allowed me to start my business in his extra, middle office. Always a smile and a kind word.
Very proud of his children and loved his wife.
Like many here I met Greg in the Christian Brothers at LaSalle in Glencoe. He and his classmates were efficacious role models in what a Catholic Christian man could and should be. Those Truths have lasted a lifetime and influenced countless of my students over the years.
