We are heartbroken to share that Joan Ashworth passed away on Monday, November 2nd, 2026. She was a beloved family member, a loyal friend, and a bright light to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born to John and Norma Bratmeyer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-or as she called it, “The Burgh”-on September 12, 1954.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Cheryl Vogtsberger; and two beautiful nieces, Kelly Reilly and Dana Flynn.

She is survived by her niece and goddaughter, Tracy Friedman (Daniel); great-nieces, Christa Channing, Erica Friedman, Daria Flynn (Dan), Stevie Vorchak, Alex Vorchak; and additional great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joan was fortunate to have many special people in her life including the love of her life, Saber Nofal, Theresa and Charles Doty, Darin Berens. Of course, not to mention Joan would not be complete without her two beloved dogs, Axel and Dexter whom she affectionately called “The ‘Boyz.”  They were her constant companions and never left her side.

Joan attended University of Pittsburgh where she studied business, travel, and tourism. Joan was an active member in her church serving as a lector. For the last 27 years of her career, Joan worked as a purchasing director at Lampton Welding, where she built lasting friendships with colleagues across the country.

Joan also loved to travel. She and the “the boyz” took long road trips throughout the United States. Santa Fe, New Mexico, was one of her most favorite destinations. She loved the vibrant colors of the countryside, the people, and the food. She would always share her spicy finds with her friends.

Joan lived life on her own terms. Known for her passion, wit, and generosity and unmistakable spirit. She had a rare gift for making everyone in the room feel seen, welcomed, often with a little mischief thrown in for good measure. She left her mark on the lives of those who knew and loved her, and she will be deeply missed.

Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2026, Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
