John A. Edwards

john edwards
Edwards, John A., 90, died Thursday, November 17, 2005. In To Kill A Mockingbird, the daughter of Atticus Finch was told to “stand tall, your father is passing.” The children of John Edwards are standing tall at the passing of our father. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and even great-grandfather. John was born March 14, 1915 to Rexford and Mary Jo Edwards. Dad worked hard all of his life, retiring as District Sales Manager with the Norfolk Southern Railroad. He also worked for several years with the IRS in Wichita. John was married to Josephine Dorcy in 1934. They were to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary the 27th of November. John and Josephine lived and worked their way through the great depression and had 5 children. John is survived by his wife, Josephine, and his children, Mary Jo Heiland (Tony), Patricia Ekeler, Donald Edwards (Ann), Joseph Edwards (Ann), and Ann Bolen (Tim). The grandchildren number 20, the great-grandchildren 46, and there are 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Donald, of Hacienda Heights, California. What can one say except we love our dad and husband and pray for mercy upon his soul and upon us who miss him so. May we all be together in Heaven one day. A rosary will be said at Downing and Lahey Mortuary West at 7 pm, Friday, and the Funeral Mass will be at 1 pm, Saturday, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with a dinner following at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations might be sent to Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67211 (medical help for the working poor). Rosary, 7 P.M., Friday, Downing Lahey Mortuary West
