John August King
King, John August, 66, retired military and City of Wichita employee, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006. John served four tours of duty in Vietnam in the USMC, Navy and USAF as a tech sergeant. He was an avid fisherman and traveled extensively. John was a member of the Wichita Military Gun Collectors Association. Preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Alta King and sister, Orneta King. Survivors: wife, Linda King; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Kathryn and Thomas A. Akers and Kimberly Jon King, all of Wichita; beloved granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Akers. As he requested, there will be a military burial at sea of his ashes. A memorial has been established with Parkinsons Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd., S-4B, Staten Island, NY, 10305. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
