Joseph Daniel Erdman II, 73, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on May 29, 2026.

Joe spent more than 30+ years in automobile sales, building friendships and earning the respect of both customers and coworkers throughout his career. A devoted Chevrolet enthusiast, he was always happy to talk cars and share his knowledge with others.

Outside of work, Joe loved the outdoors and staying active. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, bowling, flying remote-control airplanes, playing pickleball, and spending time in nature. Some of his favorite moments were spent swimming in his sister’s pool, enjoying the sunshine, and making memories with family.

Joe is survived by his girlfriend, Melanie Schreff; his children, Carly Erdman, Jarett Erdman, and Tamara Allen (David); his siblings, Jeff Erdman (Peggy), Trish Reid (Keith), and Nancy Erdman-Dyer (Dan); and his cherished grandpups, Little Bit, Kimmy Jean, Raven, Lucy, Remy, Lilah, TeeTee, and Jax, all of whom held a special paw in his heart.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Erdman and Patricia Erdman.

Joe will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for the outdoors, and the many laughs and memories he shared with those who knew and loved him. His legacy will live on through the stories and love he leaves behind.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, June 4, 2025, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Services will be live streamed and available to view by clicking on the “Watch Funeral Services” button below.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We met Joe playing pickleball with Mel, he was so likable, and loved giving my wife a hard time. Kelly loved giving it right back. He was easy to talk to and fun to be around. He will be greatly missed by everyone and the world is definitely less fun with him not here. A good guy and friend gone way to soon.

    • Joe was our salesman for 20 yrs. Great guy to work with and a very good friend. Always made sure you was comfortable with the vehicle you purchased

  2. I worked with Joe for several years, we had great respect for each other and enjoyed each other’s company. He was always fun loving and a trusted soul that anyone could count on. In short “Good People”!

Rest in Peace Joe, you are home with your parents and The Lord.

  3. I worked with Joe for many years . Always such a nice and kind man . He will be missed . Rest in peace Joe.

  4. I got to know Joey in biology class our senior year at Wichita West High. After graduation in 1970 we would hang out on weekends. We would ride motorcycles, shoot guns, or find something else to keep us entertained.

We were both car guys. He had a Chevy Nova SS396 and I had a 1969 Roadrunner.

Joey was a groomsman at our wedding in 1975.

I have kept in touch with Joey over the years.

He will be missed as a friend.

  5. Thank you Joe for always being kind to a newbie service advisor, me. Your advice, your friendliness & patience with me meant more than you know.
