Katherine Adams

Celebrating the life of Katherine Anne Adams, known affectionately as Kathy, who passed away August 17, 2026. 

Born on December 9, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, Kathy was renowned for her strong independence, sharp wit, compassion, and intelligence.

Kathy graduated from Andover High School in 1961, attended Wesley School of Nursing, and furthered her education at Wichita State University. Her professional life was marked by a distinguished career in nursing, serving in various area hospitals, and later as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Smith Kline French. Beyond her professional endeavors, Kathy was a trailblazer in the healthcare community, having initiated movements towards organized nurse unions at Via Christi hospitals.

Kathy’s personal interests included her beloved dogs, knitting, enjoying leisurely drives, and exploring real estate open-house tours. She faced life’s challenges head-on, notably overcoming a traumatic brain injury, and raising her beloved granddaughter.

Kathy leaves behind a loving family: her granddaughter Alexandra “Paige” Cummins; grandchildren Carson Cowley, Elijah Cummins, and Olivia Esposito; as well as her sister Karen and husband Robert Greenberg. 

She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Adams; parents, Jewell and Ernest Adams, and her sons, Darren and Adam Cummins.

Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
