Lucia L. Wintermute

Wintermute, Lucia L., 81, retired teacher, died Monday, February 28, 2005. Visitation with family, 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday; service, 9:00 A.M., Saturday, both at Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Graveside service, 2:30 P.M., Saturday, Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Lucia was born September 18, 1923 in Grandview, Missouri, where she lived for 53 years before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. She taught in the Kansas City school district for a total of 41 years before her retirement in 1986 while at Marlborough School. Lucia was a graduate of Central Missouri State University and a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority as well as the honorary societies of Alpha Phi Delta and Kappa Delta Pi. She was a member of several educational organizations, a 50 year member of Grandview Eastern Star, and a member of Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO. Survivors: sisters, Maxine Collins of Wichita, Frances Pennington of Vallejo, CA; nieces, Sandra Sipes of Wichita, Catherine Pennington of Stockton, CA, Christine McUmber of Hercules, CA; nephew, Stephen Collins of Jackson, MS; four great- nieces; two great-nephews. Memorial established with Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 7901 W. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67205. Visitation with family, 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, Downing Lahey Mortuary West.
