Mae Best Ravens

Ravens, Mae Best, 94, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandma departed this life to be with God on Sunday, October 29, 2006. Mae was born in Ottawa, KS on November 11, 1911 to Hattie and Clyde Best. She moved with her family to Wichita when she was two. Mae worked at SW Bell for 20 years. She married Floyd Ravens on Sept.20, 1942 and they resided at 544 N. Estelle for most of their married life. Mae was very faithful and active at College Hill United Methodist Church and read her Bible and the Upper Room every day with her husband. Mae was active in PTA at Lowell, Roosevelt and East High. Her husband of 63 years, Floyd, preceded her in death in January. She is also preceded by her infant children, Roger and Linda, her parents, two brothers and a sister. Mae is survived by her daughter Rita Ravens Alexander of Denver, CO, grandson Michael of Erie, PA, granddaughter Kate of Lawrence, KS and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Ward Chapel at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E. First Street, Wichita, KS 67214. Donations in her memory may be made to College Hill United Methodist Church.
