Malcolm “Mal” E. Galvin, 92, died on July 7, 2026.

He was born in 1933 in Wichita, Kansas, and spent his life in the community he proudly called home.

A Navy veteran of the Korean War, Malcolm served his country with honor. After his military service, he helped build the Kansas turnpike. Later, he taught himself drafting and went on to contribute to the design of numerous buildings throughout Wichita and the surrounding communities, leaving a lasting mark on the area.

He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, ultimately achieving the rank of Fourth Degree. He took great pride in serving his community and country through this patriotic honor.

Malcolm enjoyed many pursuits throughout his life. In his younger years, he was an accomplished bowler, as well as a pheasant and rattlesnake hunter. His greatest passion, however, was golf. He loved the game and traveled across the country competing in tournaments, making many cherished memories along the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Galvin; his beloved wife, Jeanne; his granddaughter, Holly; his great-granddaughter, Evelyn; his brother, James; his sister-in-law, Sue; and his niece, Sharron.

Malcolm is survived by his daughter, Marie “Terry” (Jon) Prange; his granddaughter, Ashley (Patrick) Steen, and their children, Malcolm, Coulson, Hardy, Orlo, Birdie, and Willah Steen; his grandson, Jon M. Prange; his granddaughter, Melanie (Aaron) Crouse, and their children, Lenorah, Genevieve, Daisy, and Bernie. He is also survived by his daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Flanigan (Mark); his grandson, Steven Marler.

He is also survived by his daughter, Maureen “Mo” Peterson (Jonathan); his granddaughter, Eden Morrison, and great-grandson, Enno Morrison; his grandson, Ethen “CJ” (Alyssa) Galvin, and great-grandchildren children, Ilia, Xavier, Jr., Damien, and Alaric.

He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will remember him with love.

His family is grateful for the years they shared with him and the legacy he leaves behind through his service, his work, and the many lives he touched.
