Milly was born in Solomon KS to George and Angie Lederer on September 27, 1928. She moved to Waterville with her family and graduated from Waterville High School. She met Robert McGregor when he came home from WWII at her father’s movie theater in Linn and they were married on December 8, 1946. They had 3 daughters. She was always quick to tell everyone that she was blessed with 3 children, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 very special son-in-law.
She was proud to be one of the original members of the American Legion Auxiliary in Linn and was privileged to serve as a board member for many years. She would tell stories of frying all the chicken and making the potato salad and baked beans for the first chicken fry in the old legion building. Her potato salad was always a requested dish for multiple potlucks and family gatherings.
She was an active member of the Linn community and at the Linn United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and VBS for many years.
Milly was very proud of being the high school secretary at Linn for 29 years. She had many fond memories of all the students that came through those doors. She wanted them all to succeed. She also worked at the Co Op elevator in town during summer harvest. After she moved to Wichita she worked at Superior School Supply.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Neil McGregor; father, George M. Lederer; mother, Angie B. Lederer; brothers, Harold Lederer and John Lederer; sisters, Betty Jane Hammond, Helen Moore and Jo Ann Cheek.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Ruth McGregor, Mary Jane Churchill, and Roberta Lynn (Wayne) Helms; grandchildren, Danielle Erin (Dave) Flaherty, Michael Wayne Helms, and Nathan Cole (Shanna) Churchill; great grandchildren, Cecelia Churchill, Finnigan Churchill, and Keilan Flaherty; sister-in-law, Anna McGregor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be established with the Robert N. McGregor Memorial Scholarship at Linn High School for any graduate going to a trade school and may be sent to: Mary Churchill, 1520 N Evergreen, Wichita, KS 67212.
