Mellor, Phillip Scott, born March 31, 1925, died December 28, 2005. Private family service. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Babs Mellor, son Mark, daughter-in-law Kedre, and grandchildren Matthew and Lauren. Attended East High School, quitting before graduation to enlist in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as torpedomans mate aboard the aircraft carrier Bennington in the Pacific campaign. Graduated from Friends University and Washburn School of Law. He was an active Boy Scout leader and served the Quivira Council as District Commissioner, Executive Board Member and Council Vice President. Commodore of the Ninnescah Yacht Club. Lifetime member of the Chisolm Trail Antique Gun Club. Phil was an active member of the Kansas Bar Association and past-president of the Wichita Bar Association. He served as an arbitrator in commercial disputes and as a mediator in both federal and state courts. Appointed to the Kansas Judicial Council where he served for eleven years. Founding member of Mellor and Miller, PA law firm and lately of counsel for Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson and Kitch, LLC. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
