Bob was born September 3, 1939 in Wichita, KS and grew up working in his grandfather’s grocery store. After graduating from East High School in 1957, he started a career at Dillons, where he worked for 38 years. He married Rebecca (Becky) Hupman, a school teacher, in 1972 and they raised three children and fostered several babies through Lutheran Social Services. A few years after retiring from Dillons, he began working at Dillard’s in the men’s shoe department where he enjoyed talking with his loyal repeat customers.
Bob’s favorite ways to spend time included reading, fishing, playing family games, playing with his kids and grandkids outdoors, and taking his family on vacations. He loved to play all types of games from cards to pool and even video games if the grandkids were around. He especially loved board games like Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, and Monopoly and was always known as the one to beat. He was able to mix his love of fishing and family during regular trips to Branson where he enjoyed trout fishing at Lake Taneycomo.
