Robert D. Krei

Krei, Robert D., 69, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007. Funeral service 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Graveside service 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 19, 2007 at Fairview Cemetery, Burlington, CO. Robert was born October 20, 1937 in Burlington, CO., the second child of Fred “Butch” and Veva Mae (Barstow) Krei. He attended 1st grade at Lone Stone northeast of Burlington, 2nd - 4th grades at Burlington, 5th - 7th grades at Idlewild northwest of Stratton, and 8th - 12th grades at Stratton. He enlisted in the Navy September of 1955 and was discharged in 1958. He worked in construction for Edmund and Maherbonney for 2 or 3 years, then enrolled at IBM Unit Record School in Kansas City, KS. From there he worked at GAC Finance in Aurora and then transferred with them to Wichita for a short time and then went to work at Bank IV from April 1967 until he retired in August 1998. Bank IV merged with Boatman then Nations and finally Bank Of America. Robert married Donna K. Spurlin in 1992. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack in 1954, mother in 1966, father in 1983, and brother Bill in 1996, two infant nephews, Donald and Phillip Krei, and brother-in-law, Duane “Shorty” Spurlin. Survivors include wife Donna; daughter, Carol and Chris Everett, of Sandia Park, N.M.; grandchildren, Jessica, Tanner and his wife Jennifer, and Charlie; great granddaughter, Emily; brother, James and Cindy Krei, of Valley Center, KS; sisters, Carolyn Norm Hines, of Elko, NV., Sherry and Denny Merritt, of Maywood, NE; sister-in-law Lee Ann, Bills wife, of Hutchinson, KS., Doris Dallas Stevens, of Burlington, CO, Jeanette, Shortys wife, of Firestone, CO., Dru Wood, of Stratton, CO; 5 nephews; 7 nieces; 10 grandnephews; 20 grandnieces. On Donnas side, 5 nephews; 6 nieces; 11 grandnephews; 11 grandnieces. Memorial has been established with Union Rescue Mission, 2800 North Hillside, Wichita, Kansas, 67219. Graveside Service 2:00 P.M.
