Robert J. Smith

Smith, Robert J. “Jud”, 86, retired electrical engineer, passed away January 1, 2005. Family visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at Downing Lahey East Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be at the Central Christian Church Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005. Jud graduated from Paseo High in Kansas City, and earned a BSEE degree from the University of Illinois in 1940. He did electrical engineering work on aircraft and weapon systems from WW II until retirement in 1983. Jud loved to travel, and enjoyed exploring many parts of this country during his lifetime. He is survived by Jane, his wife of 61 years, and three sons, Robert II and Valerie of Leawood, KS, Alan and Diana of Sun City West, AZ, David and Charla of Baton Rouge, LA. He is also survived by four granddaughters, two grandsons and two great grandsons. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Central Christian Church, or the Harry Hynes Hospice, St. Francis Unit.
