Asmann, Robert W. (Bob), 71, retired Executive Vice President for Bank IV, formerly Fourth National Bank, Wichita, Kansas, died Saturday, March 5, 2005. Bob was born September 7, 1933, in Wichita, as the only child of the late Walter and Margie Asmann. Some of his childhood was spent living at the family owned Hamilton Hotel in Wichita. He graduated from East High School in Wichita. He also attended the University of Kansas and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated in 1955 from Wichita State University with a degree in business administration. After college, he began working for the Fourth National Bank, starting out in a new training program and working in every department before retiring in 1990 after 35 years. He was key in development of the new Fourth Financial Center building in Wichita. Besides being a dedicated and hardworking employee, he was known for his many characters that he played every year for the employees Christmas party. He received the Wichita Chapter Award from the National Association of Accountants and was appointed Banker of the Year by the American Bankers Association in 1984. As an involved member of the community, he served on many boards and organizations donating his time and business knowledge. He was involved in the United Way serving as the Allocations Chairman, Chairman of Business Development and Treasurer during 1983-1990. He served as President of St. Josephs Hospital Board of Directors 1982-1983, Wichita State University Board of Alumni Association 1986-1989, Trustee for the Minneha Township in east Sedgwick County and on the initial Board for the Andover Advantage, Andover, Kansas. Bobs (aka Pops) real enjoyment and “frustration” came from playing golf. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his well manicured yard. After retirement, he liked spending time helping out with Junior Golf at Crestview Country Club and tending to his cattle on his suburban farm. Bob is survived by his wife, Karen of fifty-one years, his sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Sherree Asmann, Kirk and Leigh Ann Asmann, four grandchildren, Ami, Tyler, Alicia and Lindsay Asmann, all of Andover; step-father, John Hegge of Wichita. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends. Memorial services for Robert W. Asmann will be held at Downing Lahey East Mortuary on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 2:00 P.M., In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established with American Lung Association, 4300 S. W. Drury Lane, Topeka, KS, 66604 and Junior Golf Foundation, c/o Marge Page, 58 Via Verde, Wichita, KS, 67230.

  1. Ami, I was so sorry to see that your grandfather had passed.I know you were very close to him. I also know he was a great man who raised two great boys, and adored his grandchildren. He accomplished so much in his life.I never knew all the things he had done. We are praying for you, that your family has a comfort knowing he is in a better place, and you will see him again.
