Stong, Ruby Swearengin, 90, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2006. Service 10:00 A.M. Wednesday Countryside Christian Church. Preceded in death by husband, Vern Stong; son, Chester Stong; grandchildren, Audrey Cindy; brother, Jack Owens and sister-in-law, Irma. Survivors: son, Neal Stong; daughter, Jan Stong; sister, Bonnie I. Reed, all of Wichita; grandsons, Chris Jon; granddaughter, Denise (Tom) Milligan; daughter-in-law, Jane; niece, Marty Beavers; great-grandson, Sean Myers. Ruby was born March 31, 1915 in Bruner, MO. She excelled in sales with Fine Arts and Saladmaster Corp.. Ruby began the Sew So Club with women in Plainview during the 1940s, with members becoming lifelong friends. Ruby was well known for her homemade bread and baked goods. She was a charter member of Woodlawn Christian Church, now known as Countryside Christian Church. Ruby was tenderly and graciously cared for during the last three years by the Life Care Staff of Wichita. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Countryside Christian Church Share The Vision 1919 S. Rock Road, Wichita, KS 67207. Downing Lahey East Mortuary.
