Sarah "Sally" Lowe

Sarah Elizabeth Lowe entered her rest on August 24, 2026, while living at Catholic Care Center in Wichita, KS.  Sarah, also known as Sally or Grandma Piggie, was born March 25, 1943, in Flushing, NY to Justus and Esther Linkletter.

She graduated from Port Jefferson, Long Island HS and then from Centenary College for Women in 1962. While in college, her lovely soprano voice was featured with the Centenary Singers during a European tour. She worked for a time as a secretary on Wall Street before she and her son Shawn relocated to California. While working at Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto, she met the love of her life, Ronald Lowe.  When they married on May 21, 1971, she and Shawn and Ron and his two daughters, Jamie and Sandra, became a family. The family was further blessed and made complete with the arrival of Kimberly. In 1981, HP relocated them to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She spent many years raising their children before embarking on a new career of her own. She worked as a CNA, an EMT, and volunteered in NICU and hospice departments. She also served her community as a volunteer firefighter with the Peyton Volunteer Fire Department.  She and Ron were members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  After her husband’s retirement, they settled in Palisade, CO in 1997 and then moved to Grand Junction in 2007.

Her experience as a CNA in the Head and Spinal unit of St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Junction coincided with Ron’s 2005 spinal injuries suffered in an accident. She spoke many times afterwards that the lessons she learned caring for her husband during his recuperation translated into teaching families of patients with similar injuries how to care for their loved ones once home.  Ron preceded her in death in 2009.

In the years following, she found a loving companion in Howard Caywood of Grand Junction. They spent many enjoyable hours hiking and exploring the Grand Mesa area.  In 2023, her own health facilitated a relocation to Wichita, KS where she could be nearer to the services that she required.

Sarah is survived by a brother Jay Linkletter (Gail) of Jacksonville, FL, sister Kate Doran (John) of Cedaredge, CO, daughter Jamie Ursch (Tom LaBonte) of Fulton, MO, son Shawn Lowe (Angie) of Mesa, AZ, daughter Sandra Lowe of Ballwin, MO, and daughter Kimberly Tregellas (Mark) of Wichita, KS and companion Howard Caywood of Grand Junction, CO.  She is also survived by four beloved grandchildren; Jordan, Justin, Courtney and Megan.

A service to honor her will be held in June 2027 at Grand Junction’s Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery where she will be reunited with her husband, Ron.
