Thomas R. Ware passed peacefully at home on September 27th, 2026. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Tom enjoyed a 35-year career with KG&E, now Evergy and 25 additional years of retirement. His retirement years were filled with volunteerism including 19 years as a Hospice volunteer and many years with Make-A-Wish. He also enjoyed a thriving Ebay business, golf and coffee groups with his many friends. He also had been a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member since 1964. The joy of Tom’s life was to give to others. He was generous with his time and with everything he could offer, even if only a smile, laughter or a genuine hug.
Tom married the love of his life, Elaine, in 1988 and his greatest joy was his children.
Tom was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Patricia Ware; his brother James Ware; and grandson Kevin Wilson.
Tom is survived by his wife of 38 years Elaine; son, Brian (Ayako) Ware; daughters, Shannon Greene and Sara (Pete) Meeh; sister, Georgann Smith; grandchildren, Daniella Ware, Blaze Ware, May Ware, Grace Greene, John Greene, James Greene, Alaina Lakso, Aidan Lakso; step grandchildren, Emma Meeh, Sophia Meeh, Max Meeh, Maddie Meeh and Stella Meeh; and Tom’s cousins who were so special to him and who he loved dearly. He is also survived by his many friends, both old and new that held a special place in his heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the St Vincent de Paul Society of Church of the Magdalen, 12626 E. 21st St. N. Wichita, KS 67206 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 929 N. St. Francis Wichita, KS 67214.
Rosary will be at 9:30 am, Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, Thursday October 8th, 2026, at Church of the Magdalen, 12626 E. 21st N. Burial will be at St. Mary’s cemetery in Newton. Kansas

You will truly be missed by anyone who ever had the privilege of knowing you.
We will sadly be out of town and unable to attend your funeral. But our hearts and prayers will be with Elaine, Brian, Shannon, Sara and the rest of the family.
