Tom Holman, 85, died June 3, 2026.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
Tom was born in Sharon, Kansas on February 17, 1941, to Vic and Helen Holman. He spent most of his childhood in Leon, Kansas.
Tom received his Masters of Science Degree in Economics from Wichita State University in 1969. He formerly served eight years as mayor of Leon. Tom was with the State Bank of Leon for the majority of his banking career and was very active in the Kansas banking community.
Tom had a lifelong interest in western antiques and antique gun collecting, a hobby he turned into a second career. In 1997 he opened the Andover Antique Mall with his wife, Mariam. They operated it together until it closed in 2022.
Some of his happiest days were spent trout fishing with his dad, Vic, and his brother, Joe—that shaped his love of the outdoors. He also enjoyed raising cattle, hunting and golfing throughout his life. Tom was an avid trap shooter with the Kansas Trap Association (KTA), competing nationally throughout the 2000s and 2010s and earning many awards. He was also a contributor to the Bleckley Foundation, supporting the restoration of the 1918 DH-4 Liberty airplane.
He enjoyed his family deeply and always showed an interest in the hobbies and talents of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He often shared stories of his own childhood to inspire and encourage.
Tom had many friends all over the country that were made through shared interests and values.
Thomas is preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter Victor and Helen Lee (Young) Holman; wife, Mariam Holman; brother, Joe Holman; and sister, Karen Holman.
He is survived by his daughter, Kellie (Jim) Gower; son, Michael Holman; stepdaughter, Shannon Hilbert; grandchildren, Jane and Adam; and many nieces and nephews.
